U City was named the South Australian State Development of the Year at the 2020 Property Council of Australia Innovation & Excellence Awards.
U City was recognised for delivering a range of spaces designed to enhance interaction and community engagement of services and amenities.
U City received the Good Design Award for Social Impact in Australia’s International Good Design Awards 2020.
The Awards, presented by Good Design Australia, are the highest honour for design and innovation in Australia.
U City was recognised as a world-first, radical mixed-use building that is helping break down barriers and offer better wellbeing for residents, tenants and clients.

U City took out the Innovation in Development category at the 2020 UDIA SA Awards.
The award recognised U City for its highest of environmental standards and a “radical” mix of retirement and specialist disability apartments, offices, medical facilities and social services.
U City Retirement Residences won the Seniors Living Award at the 2020 UDIA SA Awards.
The 41 apartments represent one of four sections within the building, located within the top six floors of U City.
U City was awarded the ‘Improving Consumer Choice’ category in the 2020 InnovAGEING National Awards.
U City Retirement Residences were a finalist in the 2021 UDIA (SA) Seniors’ Living Award category.
U City was awarded the 2021 Property Council of Australia Award for Best Mixed Use Development.
This national award recognises and rewards innovation in a mixed use development.
U City was a finalist in the 2021 Property Council of Australia Award for Development Innovation..
U City was a finalist in the 2021 Property Council of Australia Award for Best Sustainable Development – New Buildings.
This award recognises and encourages the demonstrated application of sustainability practices that reduce a project’s eco footprint over the entire lifecycle.
U City Accessible Accommodation was awarded silver in the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards in the category of Excellence in Accessible Tourism.

In October 2020 U City was awarded a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built v1.1 Certified Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
Green Star is an internationally recognised sustainability rating system for buildings and communities.
The 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certification represents ‘world leadership’ in sustainability outcomes for the design and construction of new buildings or major refurbishments, across nine holistic impact categories; management, indoor environment quality, energy, transport, water, materials, land use and ecology, emissions and innovation.
Uniting Communities has an ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon emissions and remaining carbon neutral.
We are certified Carbon Neutral by Climate Active (formerly known as the National Carbon Offset Scheme), a network of progressive climate leaders working to drive genuine change.
This certification is a testament to our ongoing commitment to significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
In 2015, we were the first South Australian organisation and the first registered charity in Australia to receive certification under the Federal Government’s Carbon Neutral Program.
In December 2017 Uniting Communities became the first Ambassador for Carbon Neutral Adelaide.
The Carbon Neutral Adelaide Program celebrates community and business leadership towards a low carbon economy. Partners are recognised for their contribution and commitment to our community’s shared aspiration to make the City of Adelaide one of the world’s first carbon neutral cities.

The Carbon Neutral Adelaide Awards celebrate the contributions by Carbon Neutral Adelaide Partners to our shared aspiration for the City of Adelaide to become a carbon neutral city. In 2021, Uniting Communities was announced the winner in business leadership – honoured for our low carbon business leadership.
U City has become the first building in South Australia to achieve Carbon Neutral whole Building Certification and a 5 star Green Star Performance Rating via the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program.
